I am a 3. Hear me roar.

A few weeks ago, I was talking to Erica on the phone, and she told me that her friend, Chelsea, reminds her of me and that's why she likes her so much (awww). Chelsea said Erica reminded her of her sister too, and that's why she likes Erica so much (awww). They then discovered that Erica and Chelsea's sister were the same enneagram type (Number? Not sure which term is proper.), and Erica wanted me to take the test to see if I ended up being the same type (number?) as Chelsea.

Turns out, I am not.

I got all fired up and excited to take the enneagram test, sure that I would discover I was a loving 2 and that I was selfless, and everyone around me just thinks I'm the bee's knees.

Turns out I'm a 3. Also turns out, many 3s misidentify as 2s because that's how they want everyone to see them. But actually, they are just needy little buggers who require constant positive reinforcement.

TLDR: As a 3, I need attention, or I'll die. Kind of like Tinker Bell.

I was not thrilled with this result and decided that the test was all wrong. To prove it's a bunch of hooey, I made Sean take it. He's a 5, AKA The Investigator. CRAP. This thing is accurate after all.

Since then, I have fully embraced my role as a 3. On my especially needy/clingy days, Sean likes to say, "You're being such a 3 right now," and I've decided that that's ok because that's who I am, dammit.

(Very thrilled to have Lizzo to get me through this because she loves me for me, 3 energy and all.)

So here's some info I copied from a website about type 3s (https://fairygodboss.com/career-topics/enneagram-type-3-careers).

"Careers: Salesperson, Attorney, Physician, Agent, Actor, Performer, Executive, and Politician"

Hmm, ok. Don't hate these.

"Being active in sports or individual challenging exercises is common for Threes.  They enjoy competition and scenarios that bring out the best in themselves and may periodically participate in a mini-triathlon or half-marathon."

Sports? Never heard of her.

"Enneagram type 3s are hardworking and success-oriented. They have a no-nonsense, shoot-for-the-moon kind of attitude, which is as influenced by their fear of failure as it is by their competitiveness."

True. That. I don't consider myself competitive, but I certainly do not like failing.

"As is true with the other Enneagram types, the Achiever has it's Achilles' heel which is their appearance — they care deeply about how they look to others and want to be seen as successful. Though type 3s can be extremely confident, they need constant validation in order to feel worthy."

Hundo. Poor Sean gets in trouble if he doesn't tell me he loves me every time we hang up the phone or before we go to sleep. Feed me. Shower me with compliments. Support me. Or. Else.

So it turns out, type 3s are not without their issues, but Madonna and Oprah are also 3s, so I am in good company. I'm not mad about it.
