April Showers
Rain gets a bad rap.
Don’t get me wrong; rain can be super annoying. It can make driving more challenging, and it can ruin plans, but you know what else rain can do? Wash your car. Whisk away all the pollen. Give you an excuse to curl up inside with a good book Teen Mom 2 marathon. Not to mention — have you ever swam in the rain? Heavenly.
We’re so quick to say that “rainbows come after storms,” and “April showers bring May flowers.” But I think sometimes it’s best to just be present and maybe even dance in the rain a little bit instead of looking ahead or rushing it away.
Sometimes joy comes in showers, and other times, it comes in raindrops.
Here are a few raindrops of joy I experienced this week:
We booked a flight and found a place to stay for a friend’s wedding in New Jersey in September. It felt kind of nice to plan a trip since it’s been a while since we’ve been able to even think about that.
I had a really good weekend. We started our Saturday with a walk around Emerson Point with Kane and got this cute picture of his crooked little smile:
And then went to Total Wine and got a bunch of new beers to try (and some wine of course). We got takeout from our favorite Indian food restaurant for lunch, and then Sean, Kane and I got together with some friends we hadn’t seen in a while and enjoyed a backyard happy hour.
On Sunday, we declared pool season BACK (kind of)! My parents came over for a cookout and a little pool time. Sean grilled up some fabulous shrimp and scallop shish kabobs. There’s just something about the smell of the grill and an afternoon in the pool.
Today’s Thursday, and there’s a whole lot to smile about! My sister is on her way to Florida for the first time in almost three years, and we have a fun long weekend ahead filled with family time.
I guess that last one is more of a joy shower than a raindrop.
