Is it 2020 yet?

One year. In some ways, it’s hard to believe it’s already been a year. In other ways, it’s hard to believe it’s only been a year. Let’s reflect; shall we?

...is how I had planned on starting this blog post. But then I started thinking about all of the carnage and orange Cheeto dust 45 has left behind this past year, and it made me sad, so I prefer not to compile a list. I think listing it all off in one place will just be too overwhelming. Instead, let’s look at the positives:

  • The world has not ended.

  • A lot of people -- including those who voted for him -- do not support him or agree with his ideals.

  • Last year, an ex-Twitter employee went rogue and deactivated 45’s account temporarily, which is hilarious and goes to show there’s still a lot of humor in the world.

  • Even considering we’re arguably in the most divisive phase of our country’s history, in some ways, this tweeting orange monster has brought us together, as we all work to hold on to positivity, unity, light and love in this dark world 45 has created.

  • Pete Souza has introduced a whole new level of trolling that is both hilarious and thought-provoking.

Selfishly, it’s been a good year for me, too. I:

  • Got married.

  • Sold a house.

  • Bought a house.

  • Gained my first nephew.

  • Adopted a new chicken.

  • Celebrated 14 years with my pup.

  • Started a new job.

For all the sadness in the world, there’s a lot to be happy about. I’ll choose to focus on that for now. Orange you glad I am?
