Three Years Married
Three years ago today, Sean and I got married! One year ago today, I started a new tradition in which I write about one thing I learned about marriage in the past year. So, what did I learn in year three? Glad you asked.
Year 3: Sean probably knows me better than anyone.
So, this isn’t really news or something I’ve recently learned, but it becomes clearer each year.
One recent example: Two things had me in tears the other day from laughing so hard: 1) this video that was posted a long time ago that somehow resurfaced this month, and 2) Alli wearing one of my t-shirts. (I don’t have a photo of this. I’m sorry.)
When Sean didn’t laugh quite as hard as me at the first thing, I was like WTF? And he shrugged and said, “It’s funny, but not that funny. I get why you’re cracking up though. This is totally on brand for you.”
And then he proceeded to outline my brand of humor:
Anything involving the Lion King song
Animals with human names (like the donkey named Nathan in that video)
Animals dressed as humans
Any joke stemming from the Office line, “Miner? I hardly know ‘er.” (See our "Nesius? You hardly know us!" wedding koozies for further proof.)
Saying, “It doesn’t look like a Buick!” any time I see a Buick (or a car that looks like a Buick)
Clumsy moments that don’t result in serious injury (like when that kid on our street ate it while riding his scooter, and I just drove around him because I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to stop and get out of the car.)
CALM DOWN. He didn’t even cry. He was totally fine.
Sooo yeah, that's that for year three. Tonight we're going to eat steamed buns and ramen, which is pretty much the greatest way to enter year four that I can think of.
